Security not Compromised by Usability
July 1st, 2009It is very important that we ensure, not only the security of our PDF DRM. It is also important that we put user-friendliness, on equal footing with security. It is a common misconception that security systems that are difficult to establish, and the more secure they are, the more difficult they are for the users to use. LockLizard has maximized their remarkable background, in the design of user friendly systems, and in the implementation of encryption, and security technologies, to remedy that.
Relying upon passwords are not enough to ensure the security of your files. Aside from them being easily given away, there are more cracking tools, or password recovery on the internet, than one can shake a stick at. People today have many means to take out your passwords, or expose them.
The approach of the LockLizard, is to grant the connection, between the customer and the publisher of the document, and automatically start, and verify authorizations on a document, by document basis. Passwords are not given to users, users have no way of typing in the passwords, and there is no access control information that goes with the documents.
The negotiation of access control details is done cryptographically, and both the user and the attacker alike cannot become caught up in the process, and they also can’t get a hold of confidential information. With LockLizard, the most common way of attacking the PDF documents, through the attack of the passwords, have been put to a stop.
